Biography

Dr. Jon Wanderer is a nationally recognized leader in clinical informatics and perioperative care innovation. As Associate Chief Medical Information Officer at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, he designs and implements digital solutions that enhance surgical workflows, streamline inpatient care, and support enterprise-level health IT initiatives. He also serves as Medical Director of Perioperative Informatics, where he leads projects that improve patient safety, clinician experience, and operational efficiency through data-driven decision support.

A founder of Vanderbilt’s Physician Builder Program—one of the largest per capita globally—Dr. Wanderer bridges clinical practice with informatics strategy. He mentors the next generation of health tech leaders through Vanderbilt’s Clinical Informatics Fellowship and MS in Applied Clinical Informatics, and actively contributes to national efforts in EHR innovation as a member of Epic’s Anesthesiology Specialty Steering Board and the Board of the Society for Technology in Anesthesia. His work reflects a deep commitment to translating digital health innovation into real-world clinical impact.
