Biography

Dr. Robert Carnahan is a translational scientist and antibody engineer specializing in rapid therapeutic development for emerging infectious diseases. As Associate Director of the Vanderbilt Vaccine Center, he has led efforts to advance antibody candidates for Zika, Marburg, Hantavirus, and SARS-CoV-2 in collaboration with partners like the Department of Defense and BARDA.

He also directs the Vanderbilt Antibody and Protein Resource, expanding its capabilities in biologics development and assay design. Dr. Carnahan combines deep scientific expertise with operational leadership and mentors the next generation of researchers through Vanderbilt’s Management and Entrepreneurship for Scientists program.
