1. VUMC employees sending out materials

   1. To a third party other than VU:
      1. Select the blue box (“VU/VUMC faculty: request an MTA to send or receive materials here”) to access the MTAShare questionnaire
      2. Complete the MTAShare questionnaire, and upload any requested documents to facilitate processing your request 

         You will receive automatic email notices as the MTA progresses through the review process

         Note: if identifiable human subject data accompanies the materials, a separate DUA will be required to cover such identifiable data.  IDASC determine whether data is identifiable or fully de-identified

   2. To Vanderbilt University:

      1. Option 1: follow the above directions for sending materials to 3rd parties, identifying VU as the recipient, or

      2. Option 2: request the recipient researcher complete an MTA request following VU instructions – the recipient MTA questionnaire is abbreviated and easier to complete

         Note: Option 2 is not available if the material to be transfer includes human tissues/samples, materials received from (or derived from) third party materials, or materials subject to export control restrictions.  Option 1 should be followed in these instances.

2. VUMC employees receiving materials

   1. From a third party other than VU:

      1. Select the blue box (“VU/VUMC faculty: request an MTA to send or receive materials here”) to access the MTAShare questionnaire

      2. Complete the MTAShare questionnaire, and upload any requested documents to facilitate processing your request

         You will receive automatic email notices as the MTA progresses through the review process

   2. From VU:

      1. Follow the above directions for receiving materials to 3rd parties, identifying VU as the provider.  Please coordinate with the providing scientists so that you and the provider do not create duplicate requests.

         Note: Recipients should NOT initiate such a request if the material to be transfer includes human tissues/samples, materials received from (or derived from) third party materials, or materials subject to export control restrictions.  The VU provider should initiate the request in these instances.
