Chancellor appoints advisory group to advance innovation ecosystem

A dedicated advisory group appointed by Chancellor Daniel Diermeier will identify additional ways Vanderbilt can nurture a thriving innovation economy in Nashville and Middle Tennessee.  

The group will build upon existing work to leverage Vanderbilt-driven research and innovation to support local community needs, attract entrepreneurial talent and venture investment, and expand our city and region’s innovation capacity. They also will examine infrastructure needs, including dedicated physical space, programs for collaboration and how to foster a culture of innovation. 


Linkous advances lung cancer research with Merck Research Laboratories Scientific Engagement and Emerging Discovery Science program

Vanderbilt University’s Research Associate Professor of Pharmacology, Amanda Linkous, received a research grant from the Merck Research Laboratories SEEDS program to study therapeutic intervention points for preventing lung cancer metastasis in the brain. Despite common treatments, many cases of lung cancer spread to the brain, leading to challenges in treatment. Linkous aims to use 3D organoid models and computational analyses to understand how tumor cells adapt to the brain environment.
