Emely was born and raised on the island of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. For her undergraduate studies, she attended the University of the Virgin Islands, where she graduated with a degree in Chemistry and Physics. She then joined Vanderbilt through the IGP in 2021 and joined the lab of Dr. Dawn Newcomb, where she is now studying the effects of sex hormones and obesity on asthma.
