Biography

Dr. Kevin Sexton is a board-certified surgeon and clinical informaticist whose career bridges the operating room and the innovation ecosystem. With a passion for transforming patient care, he has led the development of predictive software for surgical complications and medical devices to monitor venous waveforms—technologies that have been acquired or licensed by Fortune 500 companies.

At Vanderbilt, he serves as Vice Chair of Innovation for the Section of Surgical Sciences, where he guides health tech translation and entrepreneurship. Dr. Sexton has advised numerous digital health startups and holds multiple federal grants focused on building innovation capacity among underrepresented inventors and early-career researchers. Through his work, he’s helping the next generation of entrepreneurs bring bold ideas from the bench to the bedside.
