Dr. JoEllen Holt is an entrepreneurial leader in healthcare simulation and education at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. As the Director of Simulation, she spearheads the development and evaluation of innovative simulation education programs. With a background in chemical engineering and extensive clinical experience, Dr. Holt is committed to driving system-level improvements in healthcare.

Her entrepreneurial spirit is evident in her pursuit of patents for groundbreaking medical devices, including an incentive spirometer adaptor for tracheostomy patients and a dual-lumen suction catheter designed for airway management. Currently, she is collaborating on a project that integrates simulation techniques into community health initiatives, creating risk mitigation vending kiosks that educate laypersons on opioid overdose response. This initiative not only enhances public health education but also demonstrates her dedication to practical, impactful solutions in healthcare.
