Overview
- Grant funding up to $100,000 USD to support one fellow for one year
- Budget can only include fellow salary and benefits - no overhead or indirect costs
- Funding awarded to institution, not individual fellow
- Fellow must complete capstone project with structured education program including care for underserved populations and SDM training curriculum
- Strong mentoring program and independent research opportunities provided by institution
- Program starts August 2027 or earlier with anticipated end date of August 2028 or earlier
Priority Areas
- Shared decision making (SDM) and patient education: Strengthening hemophilia care through equitable education and patient-centered shared decision making
- Underserved populations: Addressing educational needs, barriers and gaps for People Living with Hemophilia (PLwH) relating to new treatment landscape
- Workforce development: Supporting clinical training, particularly in regions facing ongoing workforce challenges
- Independent research: Observational studies and outcomes research focused on scientific understanding of disease; use of screening tools and their impact on improvement of patient health
- Interdisciplinary team-based care: Educational time with interdisciplinary team in review of case examples and relevant didactic training
Eligibility & Requirements
Institutional Eligibility:
- Accredited, US-based academic institution
- Institution must have fellowship programs that include independent research and strong mentoring program
- Institution should demonstrate robust commitment to clinical practice, research, and education, advancing knowledge in hemophilia
- Clinical training may be included but is not required
- Do not include name of potential fellow(s) in application materials - grant awarded to institution, not individual
Fellow Requirements:
- Fellow must be U.S. Worker (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or hold appropriate non-immigrant visa status authorizing employment in U.S.
- Fellow will be named in transparency reporting as recipient of grant funding per U.S. Physician Payments Sunshine Act requirements
- Fellow time spent in clinical setting supported through grant funds must not be billed as patient care
Program Restrictions:
- No aspect of fellowship program can benefit Pfizer's business or a Pfizer asset
- Research involving study/evaluation of any pharmaceutical product is not eligible
- Basic science and/or fundamental research (animal model, in-vitro, etc.) is not eligible
Evaluation Criteria:
- Proposals evaluated based on: fellowship goals, objectives, medical needs and population health, patient care experience, program criteria, mentoring, training opportunities, and resources
- Expert review panel (ERP) comprised of professionals from medical community with advanced degrees and expertise in clinical areas
Timeline
- 01 April 2026: RFP Release Date
- 28 May 2026 (23:59 EST): Submission Deadline - applications submitted after due date will not be reviewed
- 17 July 2026: Anticipated Grant Award Notification
- August 2027 or earlier: Anticipated Project Start Date
- August 2028 or earlier: Anticipated Project End Date
- All applicants notified via email; applicants may be asked for additional clarification during review period
