As the Amazon Research Awards (ARA) program continues to expand in scope and the fall 2025 call for proposals in eight research areas are listed below.
The deadline for submissions is November 5, 2025 at 11:59PM Pacific Time. Proposals will be reviewed for the quality of their scientific content, creativity, and their potential for impact at scale. Proposals related to theory, practice, and novel techniques are all welcome.
Call For Proposals Research Areas
AI for Information Security
Selected Principal Investigators (PIs) may receive the following:
- Unrestricted funds, no more than $80,000 USD on average
- AWS Promotional Credits, no more than $40,000 USD on average
- Training resources, including AWS tutorials and hands-on sessions with Amazon scientists and engineers
AWS Agentic AI
Selected Principal Investigators (PIs) may receive the following:
- Unrestricted funds, no more than $70,000 USD on average
- AWS Promotional Credits, no more than $50,000 USD on averageTrain

Automated Reasoning
Selected Principal Investigators (PIs) may receive the following:
- Unrestricted funds, no more than $80,000 USD

Build on Trainium: Responsible AI
Principal Investigators (PIs) may receive the following:
- Applicants are encouraged to request AWS Promotional Credits in one of two ranges:
- AWS Promotional Credits, up to $50,000
- AWS Promotional Credits, up to $250,000 and beyond
- AWS Trainium training resources, including AWS tutorials and hands-on sessions with Amazon scientists and engineers
AWS Cryptography
Selected Principal Investigators (PIs) may receive the following:
- Unrestricted funds, up to $80,000 USD.
- AWS Promotional Credits, up to $40,000 USD.
- Training resources, including AWS tutorials and hands-on sessions with Amazon scientists and engineers.
Cybersecurity Research and Anti-Abuse Technologies
Selected Principal Investigators (PIs) may receive the following:
- Unrestricted funds, no more than $100,000 USD on average.
- AWS Promotional Credits, no more than $40,000 USD on average.

Sustainability
Selected Principal Investigators (PIs) may receive the following:
- Unrestricted funds, up to $100,000 USD
- AWS Promotional Credits, up to $40,000 USD
Think Big
Selected Principal Investigators (PIs) may receive the following:
- Unrestricted cash funds, up to $100,000 USD
- AWS Promotional Credits, no more than $70,000 USD on average
- Training and tool resources, including tutorials and hands-on sessions with Amazon scientists and engineers
