New Research Areas to Improve Diagnosis and Treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Pfizer Inc. and the AGA are collaborating to provide funding for proposals focusing on innovative research aimed at improving the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This grant opportunity is designed to address key research gaps within the field, fostering advancements that could significantly enhance patient outcomes.

  • S1P receptor modulators: Investigating their roles in extra-intestinal manifestations of IBD, evaluating their efficacy in conjunction with other treatments, and their effectiveness in various GI conditions.
  • Innovative diagnostic methods: Incorporating artificial intelligence and machine learning in disease monitoring and patient assessment to enhance treatment strategies.

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Principal Investigator (PI) must be a member of AGA and hold a relevant medical or doctoral degree.
  • The requesting organization must be legally able to receive award funding directly from Pfizer.
  • The project must not have commenced prior to the grant application.
  • Proposals will be assessed on investigator qualifications, institutional commitment, project significance, methodology, innovation, and alignment with priority areas.

Timeline

  • Submission Deadline: September 11, 2025
  • Anticipated Grant Award Notification: November 2025
  • Anticipated Project Start Date: January 2026
  • Anticipated Project End Date: January 2027
