Plaque visualization technology

Plaque Visualization Technology. Seeking innovative technologies to enhance the detection and visualization of dental plaque, enabling improved diagnostics and consumer oral health solutions.

What we are looking for:

Novel technologies, such as imaging systems, dyes, or sensors, that enable precise, non-invasive visualization of dental plaque to support early detection and effective oral health management in consumer and clinical settings.

Must have Requirements are:

  • High sensitivity and specificity for detecting dental plaque on teeth.
  • Non-invasive and safe for consumer or clinical use.
  • Compatibility with existing dental diagnostic tools or consumer oral health products.

Nice-to-have requirements are:

  • Real-time visualization capabilities for immediate feedback.
  • Integration with digital platforms for data analysis or consumer engagement.
  • Use of biocompatible or natural materials for visualization agents.
  • Cost-effective and scalable for widespread adoption.

Out of scope:

  • Technologies targeting non-dental applications (e.g., cardiovascular plaque).
  • Invasive or surgical diagnostic methods.
  • Solutions not suitable for consumer or clinical dental use.

Please note: Faculty and researchers interested in applying for these opportunities based on technologies developed or disclosed at Vanderbilt must submit their proposals through the CTTC.
