SENSE Theatre is a unique intervention research program for adolescents and adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD.) This peer-mediated, theatre-based intervention was designed to improve social and emotional functioning of individuals with ASD using behavioral and theatre techniques.
SENSE Theatre was developed by Blythe Corbett, Ph.D., professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and Psychology and Vanderbilt Kennedy Center investigator. Dr. Blythe Corbett was an Innovation Catalyst Fund inaugural awardee in 2023, with this intervention research receiving additional support from The Brock Center and ACM Lifting Lives.
The Innovation Catalyst Fund is managed by the Center for Technology Transfer and Commercialization within the Office of the Vice Provost for Research and Innovation, in collaboration with the VUMC Office of Research and academic leadership across various university divisions. This internal funding program offers pre-seed funding to faculty from all disciplines across VU and VUMC and aims to advance translational research into transformative real-world solutions.
