Earlier this week, GlaxoSmithKline announced that they will soon open the 2015 Discovery Fast Track Challenge. The program will identify the nation's 12 most promising drug discovery concepts and put them on the "fast track" toward development. Vanderbilt researchers with an interest in submitting an application can email Mike Villalobos for more information and application assistance. The application window will be open Monday, March 23 through Friday, April 24.

According to GSK's website, this program "is a great opportunity for researchers to gain access to GSK’s scientific resources and expertise—helping to turn novel drug development concepts into new medicines."

More from GSK:

Up to twelve principal investigators from U.S., Canadian or European research institutes, colleges or universities will be selected to work with GSK scientists.

If a concept is chosen, we’ll work together to discover new pharmacologically active molecules via High Throughput Screening (HTS) and/or Encoded Library Technology (ELT).  Successful results could lead to a partnership with GSK for the development of a new medicine.
