Amazon Research Awards provides unrestricted funding and AWS promotional credits to advance research across seven priority areas in AI, security, and robotics. 

Overview

  • Training resources including AWS tutorials and hands-on sessions with Amazon scientists and engineers 
  • Support for theory, practice, and novel technique development 

Priority Areas

  • AI for Information Security: Research at the intersection of artificial intelligence and information security
  • Agentic AI: Development of autonomous AI systems and agents
  • Amazon 2030: Long-term strategic research initiatives aligned with Amazon's 2030 vision
  • Amazon Security: Security research and development initiatives
  • Build on Trainium: Accelerating Post-Training: Optimization and acceleration of post-training processes using Amazon's Trainium hardware
  • Build on Trainium: Kernels for ML Acceleration: Development of machine learning kernels optimized for Trainium infrastructure
  • Robotics: Robotics research and applications

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Proposals must demonstrate quality of scientific content
  • Must show creativity and innovation in approach 
  • Must demonstrate potential for impact at scale
  • Researchers should review ARA website and frequently asked questions before applying 

Timeline

  • March 25, 2026: Submission portal opens 
  • May 6, 2026 at 11:59PM Pacific Time: Application deadline
