Johnson & Johnson MedTech's challenge seeking AI innovations to improve surgical decision-making, strengthen data management processes, and drive surgical efficiency in connected operating rooms.

Overview

  • Grant funding up to $100,000 per selected applicant
  • Mentorship from experts across Johnson & Johnson
  • Access to computing tools including GPUs and software for accelerated computing, cloud platform services, ML/AI modeling toolkits, and Software Development Kits
  • Rolling review process with quarterly award announcements through end of 2026 
     

Priority Areas

  • Surgical decision support: Perioperative AI that augments care delivery, reduces cognitive load, and serves as surgeon co-pilot
  • Data management & governance processes: Breakthroughs in data infrastructure, privacy & consent management, labeling frameworks, and regulatory research
  • Surgical efficiency: AI that boosts care team coordination, amplifies proficiency, and improves patient management for seamless perioperative care
  • Soft tissue surgery focus areas: Colorectal, bariatric, thoracic, urology, gynecology, and general surgery
