Certis Belchim, a crop protection company, seeks novel technologies to optimize the production and reduce the application cost of their herbicide metobromuron. They aim to either reduce production costs to 6-8 €/kg or achieve a 50% reduction in herbicide dose rate through formulation improvements.
Approaches of interest
- New chemical synthesis methods achieving minimum gram-level quantities, preferably kg or ton quantities
- Novel production technologies (e.g., continuous flow reactors, enzymatic production)
- Environmentally friendly process improvements
- Advanced formulation methods (e.g., capsule suspensions, oil-based formulations)
- Development of effective adjuvants and enhancers
- Strategic herbicide mixture combinations
Out of scope:
- Chemical syntheses at microgram quantities
- Novel herbicides not applicable to metobromuron
Developmental stage of interest: Proposals must demonstrate at least lab-based proof of concept with a relevant example compound.
