The Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research seeks to advance science through the NIBR Global Scholars Program (NGSP). NGSP matches innovative thinkers from select academic institutions with NIBR scientists to explore new and exciting research directions to discover and develop transformative medicines.
An Exclusive Opportunity for Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical School (VUMC) Innovators: Vanderbilt University-VUMC are among a select group of institutions globally invited to engage in this opportunity. Through this program, NIBR will support projects focused on novel science that can be translated to discovery research.
Program Highlights

Selected research proposals, not typically funded by traditional grant support, will receive up to USD 1M over three years.

A dedicated NIBR Alliance Manager will support the collaboration so that the scientists can focus on the science.

Academic scholars will have access to disease area drug-hunting and translational research expertise.
Applicant & Pre-Proposal Eligibility

Principal investigators and Faculty (PI) employed by invited institutions are eligible to apply

Post-doctoral fellows and graduate students are not eligible to apply

Research proposals that involve any of the following are out of scope (not eligible): (i) require new IRB protocol approval; (ii) involve clinical testing of drugs or products in human subjects; (iii) require any patient interventions; and/or, (iv) use identifiable patient or clinical data.

All proposals must be reviewed by Vanderbilt Center for Technology Transfer and Commercialization (CTTC) before submission to NGSP.
