The pharmaceutical industry is in the midst of great change, and major opportunity, according to Harvard Business School Professor Michael Porter. Porter was a special guest on CNBC’s Squawk Box where he discussed the changing face of drug discovery, the strength of small biotech companies and universities - which included mention of a recent trip to Vanderbilt University, the clinical trials happening here, and the growing opportunities for pharmaceutical research.
“Drug development now is not happening in big pharma,” said Porter. “It’s happening in universities and small biotechs that have the best people and cutting edge science.”
